Obscure Vintage Alpha Automatic Depth Gauge Monnin Cased Divers Tool Watch
Very Rare find, I can find no other example of this Alpha Diver.
How the Depth Gauge Works
The Crystal is surrounded by a Capillary Tube, with a small inlet milled into the Specific Crystal at 3.
The inlet allows water into the channel as the diver descends into the deep. As pressure builds, the air in the channel is compressed and water pushes its way into the channel. The depth is read on the scale around the dial thanks to the separation between the air and water.

Quality Swiss made ETA 2872 automatic movement with date.
Setting The Watch
Unscrew the Divers Crown and it will gently pop out into position one, you can manually wind the Watch in this position. Pull the crown gently out and you will be in position two, quickset date, forward the crown to set your desired date. Pull it further out and you will in Position 3, this is the position you set the Time in.

Please ensure you push the crown back in and gently screw it back to the case when finished.

The Dial is in fantastic condition with no real marks at all.
A proper Dial for a proper Tool Watch.
Marked Swiss Made for the presence of Tritium, which still shines faintly when under a charge.
This is the original Untouched Vintage Dial.

Case & Bezel
Top Quality Robust MRP. SA Monnin all Stainless Steel Case.
Case ref: 503.603
The extremely Robust Tool Divers Case has been used, which is what we like to see, as these were sold ultimately as a Divers Tool.
The Case has scratches all over and some pitting top left lug.
Most importantly, the case has never been polished, it has its original patina from its days as a working tool watch.
Markings still legible to the case back.
Uni-Directional 60 Click Bezel moves nicely, in fair vintage order.

Hands, Crystal and Crown
Original Hands are in very good order, some slight age related discolouration to the lume on both hands.
Original Depth Gauge Crystal, it has been very lightly polished with age related marks that still remain, we have polished this as far as we dare, as I would not like to be tasked with finding a replacement!!
When the Watch came to us, the Crown would not screw tightly to the case nor would it wind the Watch, so a new Screw Down crown has been fitted, which looks fantastic.
Strap
On a new 20mm Handmade Taupe Olive Leather Strap, with Cream stitching and Steel buckle that compliments the Watch very well indeed.
Comes with a free GungaDin Watch Box as pictured.
