The Watch
.
In 1985, Breitling launched the 80360 Aerospace. The Aerospace was Digital and Analog co-existing in harmony. Although the actual model name is Aerospace, initially like all Breitling pilot's watches in the early to mid-1980's the watch is classed as a Navitimer. The Aerospace is named "NAVITIMER" on both the dial and the case back.
In 1990/1991, Breitling changed the model reference system for all of their watches. The Aerospace becomes the E56059 for all-titanium or F56059, such as today's example, for bi-colour titanium & gold. The "56" refers to the B56 quartz movement, Breitling's reference number for their use of the ETA 988. Initially the new model reference is stamped on the previous ref 80360 case back, as is today's example.
.
With its Analog and Digital fusion, the Aerospace can squeeze more complications and additional features into its 40.5mm case than almost any other. Functions include a perpetual calendar, GMT/dual time zone, chronograph, and alarm.
