The Watch

The Buren Watch Company was created in 1898. This followed the acquisition of Fritz Suter & Cie, at the Swiss town Büren an der Aare, by the London company of H. Williamson Ltd, producing pocket watches and table clocks of all types. In 1966 the Buren Watch Company was sold to the Hamilton Watch Company and rapidly transitioned to Swiss manufacturing. But the quartz crisis loomed just a few years later and the Buren/Hamilton partnership collapsed. In 1971, Hamilton sold off Buren and all of its assets, and the company was shut down.
.
Today's example is in a solid 9ct Gold Case, with a mechanical hand winding movement which has been serviced. The Dial layout is a particular favourite of ours with 12,3,6,9 markers.
