The Watch
.
Originally featured in the Heuer 1978-79 catalogue, the reference 1529 commanded a price of 230 Francs, Of course, with the co-signed dial this version wasn’t available to the public and was a special order.
.
These special order Heuer "Champion" are known as one of the "French" Heuer. Despite the brand name, the case was made in France by Monnin and the movement is a manual Valjoux 7765 without Heuer markings. Champion spark plugs were used in a variety of engines, including automotive, motorcycle, marine, industrial, and small engines like those in lawn equipment and chainsaws. It's very likely this particular Watch was presented to one of the top salespeople at that particular time.
.
No one knows how many of these 1529's were ordered by Champion but one thing is for sure, they do not come up very often.
