The Patek Philippe Calatrava is one of the most iconic watch collections of all time, with each of its time-only members carrying a distinct, symbolic weightiness in their lightweight, formal wear.
This example is the ref. 3944J, dating from the same year it was launched, 1985, the 3944J follows in the footsteps of the early 1970s debuted Calatrava ref. 3520, one of the first watches within the brand's catalogue to use a “Clous de Paris” guilloche – or hobnail – bezel, Roman numeral hour markers, and a straight lug case. Like the vintage model that preceded it, the 3944J includes these signatures, presenting a distinguished dress watch both in the catalogue of Patek, but furthermore within the luxury market at large.
