Vintage Smiths W10 British Army Military Issue Wristwatch.

This high quality Timepiece, made to British Army specifications in the English Cheltenham Smiths factory, was issued to a Army recruit in 1968.
The Watch arrives with its ORIGINAL Military Nato strap, or shall I say the first NATO strap to be issued to the Watch, as Nato's weren't around until 1970. Rare to find.
One of the most sought after post WW2 Issued Wristwatches, I have witnessed these gain in value rapidly and that growth shows no real sign of slowing as the bulk of these end up in the collections of the serious Military Watch collector.

MADE IN ENGLAND
The Dial is in fantastic Vintage condition with no marks to radio back to base about at all! Some very minor aging to the White arrow and some numbers but you can only see this under a strong zoom.
Marked T for the Presence of Mil Spec. Tritium, which doesn't seem to glow strongly at all.

This is the original Untouched Issued Dial and what a superb one at that.

THIS IS NOT A REDIAL!!!!

Case

Top Quality all Stainless Steel Rugged Robust Case.

The Solid 35mm steel case is understandably a bit of a brute, designed to withstand all the rigours of War.
The Case is in very good condition for its age with some age related marks but hardly worth mentioning when you take into consideration this Case's purpose.
Importantly, I believe this has never been polished.

Case approx. measures in at:
Diameter: 35mm
Diameter with Crown: 37.7mm
End of lug to lug: 46.7mm
Lug Spacing: 17mm

This Case was rated Water resistant back in the Day, it is now a Vintage Timepiece, it has NOT been tested for Water Resistance and if you wish to Submerge this Watch, you will need to have the Watch Professionally Resealed before doing so!!

Hands, Crystal and Crown

Original Hands are in good order, some darkening and age related patina to the hands.
A new Crystal has been fitted as part of the Service.

Original Crown in good nick.
Strap

Comes with its Original/ First Issued 70s Nato Strap, which has been cut to suit the Soldier, it measures around 8 inches long but I would say it fits a 7.5in wrist MAX. The strap is dirty and well worn.  So I will also provide a New modern 18mm Nato to cater for both tastes.

Comes with a free GungaDin Watch Box as pictured.
